*** A WORD FROM THE TERRACES with Lorraine Pijnen ***

As a special treat we have been able to track down Thame United FC fan and parent Lorraine Pijnen.

Thame United FC and WWW.THAMEFOOTBALL.CO.UK would like to thank Lorraine for giving up her time to answer our questions.

*** QUESTION TIME ***

Matt Peake-Pijnen has had a great start to his career with Thame United. What is your relationship with Matt and what has been your proudest moment of him since joining?
LORRAINE - 'I’m Matt’s mum but see myself more as his mate. We get along really well and as a sporting family we are really supportive of each other.
My proudest moment so far was when Matthew scored his free kick against North Leigh to help lift the teams spirit and get the win'.

Tell us something about Matt that our fans and followers do not know?
LORRAINE - 'As a baby he didn’t have a teddy bear, he slept with a football at his feet (he’s gonna linch me for that one). We have spent our life at the side of a pitch as Matthew was at Chelsea FC for 2 yrs, Reading FC for 2 years, Oxford United and Wycombe Wanderers all from the age of 7 years'.

Can you remember Matt's first football boots, what were they?
LORRAINE - 'Yes, I dust the buggars every day, as one of them is displayed on the shelf in his bedroom, alongside his County Cap. They were the traditional black leather puma’s, bought for him at 4 years old'.

How did you get the football bug?
LORRAINE - 'I am a scouser, I was born into football. My dad was a massive baller, playing for Everton Reserves in his earlier days, a few matches for Wrexham and was asked to play for St Johnstone, following his football success in the army. However, his dad wouldn’t allow him because they were Scottish…ha'.

What do you like to do when not watching football?
LORRAINE - 'If not watching I’m following on twitter. However, I’m a massive JAZZERCISE enthusiast. Having 3 sporty sons, I don’t get much free time'.

Do you support Any other football team? Do you have an all-time favourite football player?
LORRAINE - 'The one and only “TOFFEES” I’m a true blue'.

'Tough one….. Georgie Best, as I love the 70’s tough footballer, sometimes the ballerina footballers do my head in! and although a red, Stevie G, I loved his passion and dedication to Liverpool'.

You get a free trip to any football match in the world, which do you choose and why?
LORRAINE - 'A World Cup Final, whoever is in it. It’s a match that becomes a part of footballing history, as it only comes around every 4 years'.

Do you have a favourite player at Thame United FC and why?
LORRAINE - 'MATTHEW!!!! Haha! Being new to the club, I’m only just getting to know the players, which makes it hard for me to judge. If pushed, I would give a shout out to Craig Hill, I knew him from playing with Matthew at Oxford City and I’m impressed that he continues to be solid in goal'.

What are some unknown about our very own Matt Peake-Pijnen –
LORRAINE – 'He has always wanted to be a footballer. Another passion was he wanted to be a chimney sweeper. As a 3 year old he watched Mary Poppins at least twice a day. He thought Bert (Van Dyke) was well cool. He knew all the songs and could do all the dances off the film. He even wore a denim flat cap for years'.

What do you think is the best thing about Thame United?
LORRAINE - 'The facilities are great, it’s an amazing set up for grass roots football. You have a good team behind the scenes. I think it’s fab for the club that you have had the same manager for 12 years'.

What for you as a fan would you like to see more of at Thame United?
LORRAINE - 'More support at the matches to help lift the spirits of the players as they work really hard. And a few chanters wouldn’t go a miss'.

Do you have any final comments for our fans and followers?
Lorraine – 'Get yourselves, friends and families along to the games and support your local football team. Also, to keep liking and sharing posts on social Media. Well done Carl for all your hard work'.
