United completed the double over Ascot United in the space of four days, this time with a relatively comfortable win at the Racecourse Ground.

With Ben Connelly unavailable, the only change from the side that had beaten Ascot on Tuesday saw Connor Hayes come in to right back, with Calvin Evans moving to the right side of midfield.

And within the space of two minutes, United had taken the lead. Good play on the edge of the Ascot box saw the ball pushed to left back David Lynn who, from 25 yards, hit a first time effort that flew in to the roof of the net giving Dennison no chance. The lead was almost extended two minutes later when Lynton Goss saw his goal bound effort pushed wide by Dennison, with a header from Matt Johnston from the resulting corner cleared off the line. Dan West then placed an effort wide after good work from Luke Ricketts, before the lead was extended on 22 minutes. Goss was fouled in the area by Dennison and he picked himself up to send the keeper the wrong way from the spot. The same player nearly made if three on 26 minutes, but Dennison saved well with his feet.

The remainder of the half lacked the goalmouth action of the opening exchanges, with United holding a reasonably comfortable 2-0 lead at the break. The second half started in similar fashion with neither side creating opportunities, albeit it was United who extended the lead on 65 minutes. Calvin Evans, playing down the right, pushed the balk to Ellis Hercules whose first time ball put Goss through. Goss then squared from the bye-line to Tom Ashwoth on the edge of the six-yard box who swept the ball home.

The scoring was completed three minutes later, when good oneā€”touch interplay between a number of players around the edge of the box resulted in West finding space to curl a first time effort in off the post.

Other chances came and went for United as they were unable to extend their lead, whilst the best chance for the home side came in added time when Craven in the Thame goal blocked an effort from close range.

United: Craven, Hayes, Lynn, Hercules, Johnston, Ashworth, Evans (Harrison), Goss (Hurley), Morris, West, (Feyi) Ricketts.
