United made it two wins out of two on Tuesday evening as they defeated Berkhamsted at a damp Broadwater Stadium.

The first half opened with United enjoying the bulk of both possession and territory but without creating any clear-cut chances. Gradually the home side got in to the game and they took the lead after 16 minutes, with the home striker capitalising on a defensive error before neatly lobbing the ball over Craven in the Thame goal. United were growing more frustrated as the home side coped fairly comfortably with their offensive play, and the best they could muster were half-chances for Dan West and the increasingly impressive Josh Stanford, with both efforts clearing the bar.

Manager Mark West made a number of changes at half time and, as the rain started to fall United began to take control. And it was no surprise when the equaliser arrived on 58 minutes. Good play down the Thame left saw John Dennis lob the on-rushing keeper from the narrowest of angles. The second goal arrived shortly afterwards, again following good play down the left, with Dennis this time turning provider as his low cross was met by Andy Gedhill whose well-placed side-footed effort found the corner of the net. Whilst the game became increasingly more open, goal-scoring chances were limited, with Eddie Kavanagh in the United goal rarely troubled. At the other end, Adam Morris twice went close, with the last chance of the game falling to Gledhill, whose deflected effort was tipped over the bar.

On Saturday, United travel to Hellenic League Division 1 East Champions, Penn and Tylers Green, for a 2pm kick off.
