United made their first ever trip to Larkhall Athletic on Saturday in the FA Trophy, and came away with a draw.

The only changes from the side beaten at Didcot Town last weekend saw Aaron Jewell come in at centre back, with Aston Goss on the left and Liam Tack partnering striker, Marcus Mealing. Finlay Murray and Ben Cullen dropped to the bench, with Duran Martin otherwise unavailable.

Playing with the benefit of a stiff breeze in the first half, United started well and forced a couple of free kicks in the opening exchanges, although neither troubled Semmens in the home goal. Jamie Essex then saw a header go just wide before the home side responded with Britton and Nderemani both going close. Liam Tack then just failed to collect a through ball from Mealing before the best chance of the half arrived on 32 minutes. Clark did well down the Thame right before crossing the ball in to the box where a clever dummy from Tack gave Mealing a clear shot on goal but his first time effort sailed just wide of the post. That was as good as it got for United in the first half and, indeed, it was the home side who almost broke the deadlock just before the break when good work from the impressive Nderemeni resulted in cross to the far post that just evaded Lambert.

The second half started brightly for United and they almost scored inside the first thirty seconds when a through ball found Tack bearing down on goal. His shot was blocked by Semmens and, as the ball ballooned in to the air, Aston Goss headed goalwards only for the ball to be cleared off the line. An effort from Hope then went wide for the home side, before the first substitution of the day saw the returning Lynton Goss replace Laurence Clark, and his first touch in the penalty area almost gave him a clear shot on goal before the ball was cleared. Winter then capitalized on an error in the Thame defence but blasted over the bar, before a spate of bookings as the game became more disjointed.

The home side then thought they had taken the lead on 78minutes when Lambert headed home, but he was deemed to be in an off-side position. As the game became more stretched the final chance fell to United on 95 minutes when Tom Ashworth, on the edge of the box, played the ball through to Lynton Goss, but with the angle narrowing, Semmens came out and blocked the goal bound effort.

That is how it finished and the sides will meet again on Tuesday evening to see who progresses to the next round.
