The first half of the game was a generally bad tempered affair with both sides unable to work cohesively and committing many unnecessary fouls. After fourteen minutes, Milton’s Tom Austin fired a free kick directly into the Thame goal to give the hosts an early advantage. Ten minutes later, Luke Ricketts was fouled just outside the penalty area and Dan Jones stepped-up to put the subsequent free kick confidently past the Milton Goalkeeper to level the score at one each.
Thame came out a different side in the second half and, with the wind and slight slope in their favour, dominated most of the half. Eventually, with ten minutes to go, John Mulholland, who had come forward to add height for a corner, headed Thame’s second goal past the Milton keeper. Two minutes later Thame’s Captain, Adam Morris, put the ball in the back of the Milton net, from a Ben Gray cross bringing the score to 3-1, which was how the game ended.
The win keeps United sixth in the table, as they head in to the local derby with Chinnor on Saturday in the FA Vase.
