Thame Academy 'A's Win comfortably

Thame Academy 'A's win for the first time against Wrights Sports Academies

Wrights Sports Academy 5 - 8 Thame Academy

Thame Academy 'A' team travelled to Wrights academy this afternoon to play the first competitive game for nearly 6 weeks due to opponents cancelling or postponing fixtures and, as it turns out, was well worth the wait!

13 goals, a sending off and winds of up to 40mph saw a thoroughly enjoyable game won quite comfortably by Thame Academy Goals by Alex Rickard (2) Amir Jafri, Bertie Turvey, Jack Kibble, Jos Miles and Marcus Castano (2) saw the A team win their first game this year and in quite comfortable circumstances The first half was completely dominated by Thame where their opponents barely got out of their own half! It was a relatively quite opening 12 minutes until Alex Rickard opened the scoring from almost his own half when a quite brilliant half volley caught the wrights keeper unawares off his line and dropped in to make it 1-0 It was quickly 2-0 when Bertie Turvey latched onto a defensive error to calmly slot into an open net!

Amir Jafri, who was excellent all afternoon made it 3-0 when he jinked his way into a scoring opportunity and calmly slotted, side foot, into the far corner. All this before 20 minutes on the clock!

Alex Rickard made it 4 on the half hour when he scored another quite brilliant effort a full 40 yards from goal, again deceiving the goalkeeper bouncing over his head!
The rout in the first half was complete on 40 minutes when Jack kibble found space 20 yards out, his first touch special, but his second Superb when a full volley shot into the far top corner

Half time 5-0 Thame Academy

When the team has played so well complacency could have easily set in and instructions to keep pressing for more was certainly key.
This was evident on 60 minutes when substitutes Marcus Castano, Kieron Moreton and finally Jos Miles all combined to score the goal of the game as a fluid passage of play throughout the whole pitch saw Jos miles finish with quality to make it 6-0.
Then the game changed slightly with the sending off of Wrights goalkeeper for a professional foul, it was a combination of this and Thame making substitutions with tomorrow's fixture for the under 18's in mind that contributed to the home team gathering some momentum to score 5 late consolation goals, this not before Marcus Castano grabbed 2 superb goals himself to complete the scoring

Full time: Wrights Academy 5-8 Thame Academy

A special mention to the midfield in the first 60 minutes as it was a pleasure to see such control and play from the 3 in there, not to mention the whole squad that deserve such credit after such a long delay from playing.
