Thame Rangers maintain their unbeaten league run on the road at 4th placed Wallingford.

Thame Rangers travelled the reasonably short distance across the county to Wallingford Town in only our seventh league game of the season. Captain Dan Hatton and central defender Jordan Davis were suspended for this game. Midfielder Christian Deste is still sidelined with injury along with Alfie Flemming and leading goal scorer Patrick Buston was rested with a slight calf strain. Craig Faulconbridge was included in the starting line-up for his first appearance of the season.
In wet conditions Rangers started the brighter side as both wings enjoyed some good attacking play although Wallingford always looked bright going forward. New center half pairing on Matt Johnston and 17 year old Charlie Elliott won the aerial bombardment from Wallingford in the first half. Rangers opened the scoring through Faulconbridge whose intelligent well placed header from a Shannon Jesson cross left Wallingford’s keeper stationary. Minutes later Faulconbridge scored his second from an Adie Smith cross but was adjudged offside. Up the other end Dan Bowker was at his best to keep out a three attempt equalizer to ensure Rangers went in at half time a goal to the good.
The second half took a different angle as Wallingford looked to get back in the game and Rangers stood firm as the aerial bombardment continued. Wallingford enjoyed more of the possession but it Was Rangers who increased their lead with another headed goal. Jesson crossed from the right and Luke Hurley glanced his header into the bottom corner on 65 minutes. Wallingford pulled a goal back after a clear foul on Faulconbridge was missed. Charlie Silkstone raced clear to slot home from close range. Faulconbridge was replaced by Jed Desouza and Luke Hurley by Jake Desouza. Jake usually plays left back but was employed as a striker and looked a natural as he led the line well. Rangers stood firm to see out the remainder of the game to remain unbeaten in the league with another important 3 valuable points on the road.
Team:
Bowker, Smith, Jesson, Edwards-Giraud, Elliott, Johnston, Ashworth, Rogers,
