Thame Academy v BCA Bs
Thame snatch a last minute draw
Thame Academy had some A team players playing e.g. Jos Miles, Asher Yearwood and Shane Kennie so had a strong line-up. Thame started stronger while having more possession and creating by far the most amount of chances. Before BCA even had a shot on goal, good pressure by Toby Ward forced an own-goal by BCA and Thame deservedly went 1-0 up. Jos Miles and Ben Pollmor were solid at the back holding a good line which caught BCA offside a couple of times but the first mistake made by the back four sent the BCA striker through one on one with Lucas Campbell who finished it nicely to make it 1-1.
After the goal Thame were by far the stronger side and created a hatful of chances for striker Jacob Hearne but he couldn’t find the back of the net. Brad Young then picked the ball up from a failed corner by Thame and whipped it in the box to find Asher Yearwood who headed home to put Thame rightly in the lead, leading 2-1. The half time whistle went and Shane Kennie and Asher Yearwood, our two full backs were replaced by Jake Nixon and Kyle Evans and keeper Lucas Campbell was replaced by Euan Hutchings. Kieron Moreton also came on on the wing to give Thame that extra pace upfront.
BCA got better in the second half, playing better football than in the first and troubling Thames defence, causing some problems. Jacob Hearne had another chance to increase Thames lead but again couldn’t find the net as his shoot swung wide. Thame should’ve been more than a goal ahead when BCA got an equaliser half way through the second half which frustrated the home side as BCA looked more threatening. Thame then gave away a sloppy corner which then led to a good corner by BCA which resulted in a good shot which goalkeeper Euan Hutchings got his hands to but wasn’t able to keep out and unluckily Thame were 3-2 down.
With emotions running high from both teams, some players from both sides weren’t getting along and the referee had some decisions to make which he handled well. Thame became the stronger side again as BCA parked the bus looking for a winner. Toby Ward and Jacob Hearne linked up well but couldn’t get that all important equaliser. With not even 1 minute on the clock Thame got a free kick from around 35 yards out from a bad challenge from BCA. Euan Hutchings, the keeper, and the rest of the team were all in the box trying to get an equaliser. After a scuffle in the box from some players Alex Chillcot was finally allowed to take the free kick. He stepped up and dipped the ball into the box looking someone to get their head on it but it was missed by everyone, even the BCA keeper and went into the back of the net to make it 3-3.
