Extra time goal rush sees Rangers through in topsy turvy cup tie
Dramatic end after Thame struggle to impose themselves
Five goals in extra time produced a scoreline that does not tell the full story of an Oxfordshire County Cup tie that could easily have gone either way. Rangers struggled to find their form at first and seemed to be suffering from a hangover from the previous Sundays disappointing performance at Chalfont.
The home side took a half time lead and were ahead again 3-2 late in the game before Thame levelled to send the tie into an extra half hour, during which the superior skills of the Rangers finally told.
Leading scorer Jake Dann, without his injured strike partner Billy Herbert this week , led the way with five goals. He will be aware however that on another day he could have hit double figures.
There were also goals for Alex McStay, Matt Wrigglesworth and an Ed Hickman header . The tie giving welcome pitch time to all 15 players present. A special mention to coach Geoff Hall who stood in as referee as the official booked by Summertown failed to show.
Squad: Eddie Hart, Matt Gomm, Ollie Gibson , Jordan Baker , Tom Darling ,Jack Thurnham, Ed Hickman, George Bennetts, Alex McStay, Cameron McLaren, Tom Howard, Sam Muscroft, Jack Howland , Jake Dann and Matt Wigglesworth .
