Return of strike force sparks a goal rush
Ten goals shared in battle of the Rangers
The omens were not good on the way to Ruislip. A downpour that seemed never ending and a Rangers team missing its keeper facing a difficult fixture against the team that finished one place above us at the top of Division 2 last season.
In the event the rain stopped just in time to allow a high scoring game, Jordan Baker earned his teammates gratitude and respect taking over in goal and Rangers came within seconds of what would have been a memorable victory.
Strikers Jake Dann and Billy Herbert both returned to the side and both ended up on the scoresheet in a dramatic game that swung one way and then the other. Herbert and Cameron McLaren scored early goals as Thame got off to a perfect start. George Bennetts fired in a long range effort to make it 3-1 before the home side hit back with a vengeance.
Midway through the second half Ruislip led 4-3 only for the game to turn again, Dann and Herbert finding the net giving Thame an advantage they held until the dying seconds when the home team scored the games tenth and final goal. In the circumstances a good away point that the coaches would have cheerfully accepted when they learned that Eddie Hart wouldn't be well enough to take his place between the sticks.
Squad: Jordan Baker, Matt Gomm, Tom Howard, Tom Darling, Jack Thurnham, Ed Hickman, Cameron McLaren, George Bennetts, Sam Muscroft, Billy Herbert, Jake Dann, Jack Howland and Matt Wigglesworth.
