Rangers punished for lapse in concentration
Another narrow defeat as Thame bow out of County Cup
For a third consecutive weekend Rangers lost out by the odd goal and once again will be regretting a handful of key moments that turned the game.
There had been little to choose between the teams in a goalless first 45 minutes but Highfield were able to race into a two goal lead in the opening minutes of the second half, taking advantage of a worrying lapse in concentration by the Thame boys.
By the time the Rangers players got their heads back into the match they were facing a mountain to climb. Like the previous Sunday's cup defeat at Chinnor, Thame pulled one goal back through Billy Herbert. The strikers created several opportunities to draw level including one-on-one contests with the visitors keeper but couldn't find the net again.
The chances of a successful comeback weren't helped when Cameron McLaren was sent off for a second yellow card offence
