Carterton Town U16 4 Thame Colts U16 0
By Tim Darch
Colts humbled by Carterton Town
It was the proverbial 'long journey home' from Carterton today as the Colts succumbed to a well-organised and combative Carterton side. Ultimately Thame were well beaten and the score was a reasonably fair reflection of the game. Although Reuben was unlucky with the first goal (the ball bouncing very awkwardly just in front of him), the scoring was completed with two great strikes from distance either side of the interval and a fourth from a free-kick that one of Carterton's front three ran onto, slotting home with aplomb. Chances were at a premium for the visitors, Oscar's header just shy of the angle of post and bar and a trademark Cameron inswinging corner that forced the keeper to palm the ball away probably the two moments of note, along with Reuben tipping a corner onto the bar. However, credit to the boys for keeping their cool (on the whole) when the chips were down, keeping going till the final whistle and playing some decent passing football at times.
