Thame under 12 mixed Colts/youth team battle the elements and stronger teams at the Chinnor tournament but don't give quarter to either!

A splendid effort by a team made up of 6 Colts and 2 youth squad members warmed up the Thame supporters even if it couldn't dry them out. Battling the elements, a 1 hour delay to the start of the tournament during which the rain hurtled down unceasingly and higher standard opposition, Thame gave an excellent account of themselves.

After late team withdrawals, Thame were left in a group with Prestwood, Chinnor and Launton. First up there was a great match of zipping passes and driving runs from both teams. Prestwood had their chances but Thame were the closest to the win when Drew couldn't quite get on the end of a tantalising cross after great work from Chris and Jordan.

Local rivalry and Lord Bills bragging rights were up for grabs when Thame met a stronger Chinnor team and kept them at bay for most of the game with massive commitment throughout and goalkeeping heroics from Josh Clark. Even after Chinnor took the lead Thame had their chances and if an Eddie B intercept and pass had been slightly more accurate James may have been in.

If and buts aside the last game was again a great passing display from both teams. Launton nicked one goal and then scored an excellent end to end second that made them worthy winners but we had again played with real skill: step overs and poise from Nikhil, anticipation from Scott and great runs and endeavour from Jordan, Chris and James.

So-Thame went home early but knowing they had given their best. The disappointment of the boys was obvious and to their credit. Well done to Paul for setting them up so well, and a note to the crowd who gave their best performance for some time!
