Making Waves for Alex, Charity Ball

Saturday 9 February 2013
19:30 - 21:30
Frank Thompson

Alex Wood, at the age of 32 suffered a massive brain bleed in a tragic accident during rugby training. Following two life-saving operations he is making good progress at The Oxford Centre of Enablement. He is however blind, suffers from epilepsy and is still in the very early stages of recovery. As a result his wife Tamsyn has been left to bring up their four children, who are all under the age of eight whilst maintaining her daily visits to Alex in order to aid his recovery.

Alex will be moving to a rehabilitation unit where he will still need 24-hour-a-day care and physiotherapy sessions. He will also require speech therapy and occupational therapy on a one-to-one basis, which is not covered in this centre. This will give him the best shot at being able to live at home again one day with his family who desperately want him home. In order for his continuing care we need to raise money through charitable donations, events and other fundraising activities. On Saturday 9th February 2013 we will be holding a Winter Wonderland Ball at Thame Football Club and as part of the event we will be holding a raffle.

We have been blown away by the generosity of the Thame community and already have some raffle prizes for the auction. However, as the ongoing expense is quite high we desperately need more. If you could donate a prize to help us pay for Alex’s care, we would be most grateful. The Family’s plight has been covered by the local press and attached is a bit of background for your information.

All donations will go to the Making Waves for Alex fund and all contributions are most gratefully welcome.

Many thanks

Tamsyn Wood, Pippa Hopcraft Laura King
