*** A WORD FROM THE TERRACES with Tim Michael ***

Brought to you by 3B Vehicle Hire & Servicing, Haddenham & Aylesbury www.3bhire.co.uk – The Official Media Sponsor of Thame United FC

As a special treat we have been able to track down Thame United FC fan Tim Michael.

Thame United FC and WWW.THAMEFOOTBALL.CO.UK would like to Tim for giving up his time to answer our questions.

*** QUESTION TIME ***

You have been to watch Thame United home and away. What has been your favourite game to date over the years?
Tim - ‘There’s been many games that have been good but in recent times the FA Trophy game vs Worthing in 2017 was pretty good. It was a 1-0 win but had tension and drama plus it was a great win over supposedly superior opposition. Going back a bit, the win at home to Vauxhall Motors in 1999 in the FA Vase was a real cracking match’.

How long have you been a supporter of Thame United? How did you get into following the Club?
TIM - ‘I’ve been following the club pretty much since I moved Thame over 30 years ago. I got to know a few guys who were involved at the club at the time and they sort of introduced me to the club’.

What has been the best moment as a Thame United fan?
TIM - ‘I think it has to be the FA Vase semis vs Bedlington Town in 1998/99. I know the scores didn't go well for us but there was a real buzz about the place plus I was able to contribute by sponsoring the warm up tops for the players for the tie’.

Please could you share with us how you got the football bug yourself? Did you used to play?
TIM - ‘All down to my father really. He was a big football fan and took me all over to watch some of the great players in the world at the time. Yes, I played competitively from the age of eight until I called it a day at thirty six. I considered the standard pretty good having played in the likes of the FA Amateur Cup for example, as it was then’.

What do you do when not watching Thame United home and away?
TIM - ‘I play golf regularly in an effort to get better. Not that easy!! On the football side, I watch a lot of live football. For example, last month I watched two academy training sessions, one academy match, one non-league match (Thame), one Premier League and one Champions League game…..all in just over a week! Full on live football’.

Do you support any other football team? Do you have an all-time favourite football player?
TIM - ‘I’ve been an Evertonian pretty much all my life since my father took me to Goodison Park as a boy in 1968. Although I gave up my season ticket some time ago, I’m still a member plus I donate to the award winning Everton in the Community charity scheme. You would think that my all-time favourite player would be from Everton but really this has to be George Best. I saw him live on many occasions and he had everything. Absolutely brilliant’.
.

You get a free trip to any football match in the world, which do you choose and why?
TIM – ‘Got to be River Plate vs Boca Juniors in Buenos Aires. It’s the greatest club derby game in the world by some way. Only trouble is it all gets a bit carried away…..as we discovered recently’.

Do you have a favourite player at Thame United FC and why?
TIM - ‘The players who decide matches are usually the strikers so it has to be Westy. He had a cracking season last season. This season has been more difficult but you know he’s always likely to affect the game’.

What for you as a fan would you like to see more of at Thame United?
TIM - ‘Firstly, it would be nice to see a few more people attending the games. Also players thrive on fan involvement and maybe that could improve’.

What is the best thing about Thame United?
TIM – ‘When you travel to some away games, you appreciate that the facilities and set up at the ASM is a lot better than most’.

Do you have any final comments for our fans and followers?
TIM - ‘Keep following your local club. It’s easy to ignore live football for a seat on the sofa to watch say Sky Sports. Make your way down to the ASM. The players do appreciate it’.
