*** QUESTION TIME ***
Aaron, could you share with us how you got into football?
AARON – ‘As a youngster I played in the school yard and in the lanes in my street but when everyone else started signing up for teams I just wasn’t that bothered. In the end, I went along for a training session/open trial with my mate for my local team - Newcastle East End and ended up getting selected but he didn’t...it all took off from there really'.
What position(s) have you played for us at Thame United FC? What other clubs have you played for?
AARON – ‘In training you’ll typically find me drifting into the 10/free role which I think is where the Gaffa prefers me but when it comes to it I’m at the centre of defence.
Since moving to the area a couple years ago I’ve found it hard to settle and at my ripe age, I need to be playing so I’ve moved around a bit. I’ve played locally at Marlow, Beaconsfield and Burnham but I’ve played northern league for Heaton Stanington, in Wales at Ton Pentre and Taffs Well as well as few conference north appearances when I was younger with Workington'.
What do you do when not playing football?
AARON – ‘ When I’m not playing you’ll find me either walking my dogs or in the gym. Apart from that I’m newly married so I’m not allowed out much'.
Do you support a football team? Do you have an all-time favourite football player?
AARON – ‘Yeah I’m Newcastle born and bred so that’s my team. My favourite player is obviously Alan shearer but growing up as a left winger/striker I loved Thierry Henry and the way he played'.
What has been your greatest moment as a player?
AARON – ‘ It’s going to sound a bit cheesy but every game I play at the highest level I can is something I am treasuring at the moment. I know it won’t last forever and I have had plenty of friends who were pros and have completely lost the love for it by their 20s so I am enjoying myself. Either that or the screamer I scored with my right foot against Blyth Spartans at U13s'.
What is the best thing about Thame United?
AARON – ‘Thame United is a completely undervalued club for me. It obviously has the facilities which everyone knows about but it’s got what you can’t see with the players, coaches and support behind the scenes. There’s a really good vibe regardless of results etc. and the current group of lads trust each other. From what I’ve seen around the league I’m confident in saying I’ve enjoyed it the most'.
If you could go to any football match in the world which would you choose and why?
AARON – ‘ I’d go back in time to watch England play Scotland in euros ‘96. I could watch Gazza’s goal on repeat'.
What football boots do you wear? And what are your all-time favourite boots?
AARON – ‘
I currently wear a pair of red predators. Me and Duran wear the same and always make a joke about how we are both ballers and wear the same boots. My all-time favourite pair would be predators from the late 90’s.
You were sponsored recently by Figaro's Barber, what does this mean to you? Have you paid them a visit yet? Which of the players have?
AARON – ‘ It’s great to see that the local businesses are supporting the team. It really makes you feel part of the local community and that you have the backing of them come matchday. I haven’t been yet but I know a few of the lads have - Lynny, Craig and Jamie all rave on about them'.
Do you have any final comments for our fans and followers?
AARON – ‘I’m thoroughly enjoying my time here at Thame United and want to say a big thank you to the support we have including the local community and businesses. All the work that goes on behind the scenes and a special mention to Jake who drives it all. We’ve got an important run up towards the end of the season so your support in these final 7/8 games is vital'.
