A day to remember for a young Knight

A day to remember for a young Knight

Frank Thompson19 Nov 2012 - 12:22

On Sunday 11th November a dream came true for under 10’s player Matty Knight

Matty from Oakley had been chosen to be the mascot for Chelsea at their match against Liverpool.
On arrival we were met by a member of the mascot team, Matty was presented with a kit and we were given our match day tickets and mascot passes allowing us access to pitch side, tunnel and the centenary hall2.
We were then taken to the corporate hospitality area and invited into the restaurant reserved for player’s wives and families. On the table next to us were John Terry’s wife, parents and children. Later in the afternoon Ivanovic and Ramires and other players girlfriends and wives joined us.
At 2.30 we were escorted to the Chelsea changing room where John Terry met us. For 15 minutes we were allowed free reign of the changing room, we took this opportunity to speak to the players and collect their signatures on a Chelsea shirt and Flag we had taken with us. After this Matty had his photo taken with all his favourite players and the manager Roberto Di Matteo. We then returned to the family area to watch the team warm up, once the players returned to the changing rooms it was Matty’s turn to rejoin them.
We were led down the away stand to the edge of the pitch and then along this to the tunnel. Matty was led down the tunnel and joined the teams, referee and officials.
Then came the real highlight of the day, Matty lead the Chelsea team out onto the pitch with John Terry. Both teams lined up and Matty then got to shake hands with all the Liverpool players and the match officials. Matty joined the Chelsea team in a quick run around and stretches, getting high 5’s and hugs off the players. Howard Webb then called the captains John Terry and Steven Gerrard and their mascots to the centre circle for official photos and to toss the coin for kick off.
Matty then ran off the pitch and joined us in the stand behind the dugout to enjoy the match.
Well done Matty, we hope that you enjoyed your day
