Thame Girls lift TAL Cup

On a blustery Tuesday evening saw Thame U13 Girls host Launton in the first of the 'TAL Ladies Seasonal Cup' on the ASM stadium pitch.
Right from the start, with the wind fighting against them the girls battled hard keeping the ball in their goal half, any chances Launton did get were short lived thanks to Jess & Jess P goalie Jodie was certainly feeling the cold with little chance of much action.
The break finally came just before half time with GJ running from the back to score a cracking hard fought goal, making it 1-0 to Thame.

Matty Phillips very kindly made an appearance, showing his support from the dug out with his brother Nathan the girls coach.

This put the girls in great spirit and with continued determination in the second half from the midfielders Livvy, Frankie & Isobel helped on the right side by Lucy who all knew exactly where the ball needed to be, giving Yassy the chance to run the length of the pitch with the goal in her sight...unfortunately the Launton defence saw her chance and descended on her like a swarm of bees.
This unlucky shot was short lived thanks to Katie, coming from behind the defence to score a goal giving Thame a 2-0 lead.
Sophie continued to apply the pressure again & again but the Launton defence were on to her.
Then with 10 minutes left to go Kylie who had some great turning & weaving footwork, gave herself the space she needed to deliver an excellent third goal straight into the top of the net, in true Matty Phillips style a goal worthy to be alongside his goal of the season.

Premiership QPR Player Matt Phillips presented the girls with the much deserved winners cup.

Well done Thame Girls.
