Thame United travel to Holloways Park this Saturday to face Beaconsfield Town (The Rams) in the Pitching In Southern League Central Division One, there should be little chance of this game being impacted by the weather as Beaconsfield play on a 3G pitch, so hopefully no problems with pitch inspections. This weekends meeting see two of the form sides in the league come together with Thame topping the form table and the Rams sitting in third place. The two teams met back in November at the ASM with an underwhelming performance for the home team saw the Rams come away with a 4 - 1 victory with Zak Fraser-Grante scoring all four goals.
Thame's 4 - 3 come back victory last Saturday against Flackwell Heath after being 3 - 0 down within 30 minutes saw them move to fifty one points and now equal with Hertford and out of the play off spots on goal difference and with games in hand on the teams immediately above. Beaconsfield moved up to eight place with a 3 - 1 away victory at Aylesbury to stretch their unbeaten run to seven games, while Thame go into this game on a ten game unbeaten run.
Last season the two teams met three times once in the FA Cup and twice in the league with Thame coming out on top in all matches, with it being a transitional season for Beaconsfield after being relegated from Step 3, which saw the team finish in mid table on fifty points, this season they are far more competitive and have already gained forty five points and nearing last seasons total points tally. After a really slow start to this years campaign with no wins in the league in August Thame are now ahead of their points tally at the same stage as last season as they continue to put pressure on the teams above them.
Both teams have got goals in them with Beaconsfield scoring fifty nine with leading scorer Manu Ole Williams with sixteen to his credit likely to be the main threat but need to watch out for Zak Fraser Grant who has already scored against the visitors this season. Louis Walsh has moved onto fourteen goals after his brace last weekend closely followed by Harry Alexander on thirteen and has already past his total for last season, with Thame currently in equal third place for goals scored in the league with sixty six.
This looks to be one of the games of the day in the division so expect a good battle with two of the form teams going head to head.
