Penalties separate the sides

Rangers 3 Thame Reserves 3 (Reserves win 8-7 on pens)

The Reserves take the clubhouse bragging rights after coming out eventual winners in a closely fought contest on Wednesday night. The game started with the reserves on top and it was against the run of play when Rangers took the lead through Felix Prudden after good work from Danny Jordan. This spurred the Reserves back into life and they soon equalised through Jacob Davis after a set play. This became a familiar pattern as before half time Davis had completed his hat trick through further well worked set play moves. Everyone wondered how Rangers would respond in the second half and to their credit they took the game back to the reserves and gradually wore them down.

Two late goals from Calvin Evans and Prudden’s second at the death meant the game went to the dreaded penalties.

The shootout proved as close as the game and it wasn’t until Rangers missed their ninth penalty that the tie was settled.

Best of luck to the Reserves as they carry the Thame flag into the next round of the Hellenic Cup !
