Thame United head to Wilkes Park on Tuesday night for a game under the lights against Flackwell Heath in the Pitching In Southern League Central Division One.The two teams have met four times since Flackwell were promoted to Step 4 in 2024. In their first season at this level, Flackwell beat Thame twice on their way to reaching the play-offs. Last season, Thame won at Wilkes Park in October and then again in February in a remarkable game. Flackwell raced into a 3-0 lead before Thame scored four quick goals to go in at half-time leading 4-3, and that was how the game ended. This season has been a struggle for the home side, who sit bottom of the table on three points. Their only league victory came in August, when they beat Hertford 2-0. They have also had a change of manager early in the season, with Chris Ayres being replaced by Mark Nesbit. They have recently brought in a number of new signings, including former Thame player Jamie Davies, who joined two weeks ago, and Pierce McNamara, who was at Thame two seasons ago.
Meanwhile, Thame will be looking to bounce back after suffering an uncharacteristic home defeat to Leverstock Green on Saturday. It was a below-par performance, which the visitors took full advantage of. And after the two cup defeats to step there sides see the side on a run of three defeats. This Tuesday sees the start of a tough run of 15 games in eight weeks, due to Thame reaching the third qualifying rounds of the FA Cup and FA Trophy. Thame will welcome back Callum Hall after he was suspended at the weekend following his red card against Eastbourne Borough the previous week.
Kick Off at the Wilkes Park is 19:45
