Thame United return to league action for the first time in September as they travel to Milton Keynes Irish in the Southern League Central Division One for this Tuesday night match under the lights.
This will be only Thame’s fourth league game, following their continued involvement in both the FA Cup and FA Trophy, where they have progressed to the third qualifying rounds of both competitions. Their last league game was on August Bank Holiday Monday, when they secured a 3–1 away victory at Marlow.
Since then, they have beaten Reading City in the FA Cup and, at the weekend, progressed in the FA Trophy after a long trip to the South Coast, where they defeated Portland United. Thame currently sit in 12th place, with four points from three games, having recorded one win, one draw and one defeat. They are also currently unbeaten in six games.
Meanwhile, Milton Keynes Irish are in seventh place, with seven points from five games, having recorded two wins, one draw and two defeats. Last time out, they secured an impressive 3–1 away victory at Haringey Borough, with new signing Cairo Taylor scoring a hat-trick on his debut. However, they have been eliminated from both competitions. Last season saw the first-ever meeting between the two sides, which took place at the ASM Stadium. Mike Irish scored a late winner to earn Thame a 2–1 victory. In the reverse fixture, MK Irish suffered a 6–0 defeat in March, with Louis Walsh scoring five of the goals.
