Next seasons Southern League Central Division One

Martin Pacetti16 May - 07:53

Here's a look at the make of of next seasons Souther n League Central Division One

This week the National League System Club allocations for the 2026/27 season were released.

Thame United will continue in the Southern League Central Division One, six teams have left the league with Leighton Town and Hitchin Town promoted to the Southern League Premier Central, while AF Dunstable, Rayners Lane, Northwood and Enfield FC were relegated to step 5. These teams have been replaced with the following, two have been relegated, two promoted and two have had side ways moves.

Royston Town finished second from bottom of the Southern League Premier Central and Potters Bar finished second from bottom of the Isthmian Premier League. Thame have played Royston one before in the 2018 FA Trophy which Royston won 5 - 2. Potters Bar will be a new challenge in competitive action.

Thame face two new teams who have been promoted to Step 4 in Harringay Borough who won the Spartan South Midland League beating Winslow Town on goal difference, with Winslow going on to win the play offs beating Cockfosters in the final. Winslow will be our equal closest team along with Aylesbury in the division with a round trip of 36 miles.

Finally two teams have had sideways moves Didcot Town another Oxfordshire team have moved from the Southern League Division one south, which im sure will be a welcome move reducing their away travel milage significantly, last played Didcot in a friendly two seasons ago. Waltham Abbey have moved back to the division after two seasons in the Isthmian League North where they finished third last season and reached the play offs. The two teams have met several times in the Southern League with the last a pre season friendly in August 2025 t the ASM.

With the new editions to the league Thame will face an away milage for the season of 1574, slightly up on last season with Harringay, Royston Town, Ware and Waltham Abbet all over the 100 mile round trip.

This season there is a new play off format as play off places will now go down to seventh place so format is the same now as the national league, with fourth playing seventh, fifth playing sixth and winners playing teams in second and third places for the right to play in the final
