The bottom two sides in the Pitching In Southern League Central Division 1 faced each other as the Red Kites travelled to Bedfordshire to play Kempston Rovers.
Manager Ben Williams made a number of changes to the side that lost heavily the previous week. Harry Alexander came into midfield to replace Pierce McNamara who dropped to the bench, Jordy Ngarthe came in on the right wing and and there was a debut for new signing Juwon Atkintunde in the number 9 shirt. Ezra Forde dropped to the bench and Ben Kakembo wasn’t in the squad. On the bench there was a place for new signing Harry Moore and Theo Ransby came in as defensive cover.
Thame started brightly and after only two minutes had a chance to take the lead, a break down the right had side produced a cross which found Jayden Carbon unmarked inside the six yard box, his first time shot however was straight at the keeper and the ball rebounded and was cleared. On 18 minutes the home side had a chance to take the lead when a ball over the top found the Kempston Striker and there was a coming together with Tyler Lawson. The referee deemed there to be enough contact to award the penalty. However the strike was well saved by Archie Davis low down to his left.
Although Thame were having a lot of possession there was very little to show for it and as the half wore on, mistakes were creeping into the visitors play and were starting to give the ball away far to often. This encouraged the home team who started to come back into the game. Tyler Lawson picked up a needless booking for not giving the back from a Kempston throwing. The half ended with very little goal action from both sides with the Red kites only having one shot on goal.
The second half started much the same has the first half finished, little quality from either side with both teams guilty of giving the ball away and overplaying. On 55 minutes Kempston, attacked down their left hand side, and a cross / come shot was fired into the box, and keeper Archie Davis missed the ball and some how the ball found its way into the net for the home side to take the lead. On 63 minutes Thame made and double substation with Harry Moore and Ezra Forde replacing Harry Alexander and Juwon Akintune, but still Thame could not threaten the Kempston goal and it got a whole lot worse when another error gave the ball away and Tyler Lawson was committed to the challenge, but missed the ball and took out a Kemptons player and the referee had no hesitation in showing a second yellow and gave Tyler his marching orders. On 75 minutes Wiktor Makowski came on for Jordy Ngarthe. But the home side were comfortable and dealt with anything Thame threw at them comfortably and the game ended with a 1 -0 home win. With the visitor not threatening the Kempston goal at all in the second half. Another disappointing away day for the Red Kites.
