Pitching In Southern League Central Division 1 Thame United vs Biggleswade FC

Thame United 1 - 1 Biggleswade FC 1

We were back under the lights last night at the ASM stadium as the Red kites faced Biggleswade FC in the Pitching in Southern League Central Division 1 tie. Manager Ben Williams was forced to make two changes from the side that battled well for a draw at Ware on Saturday. Captain Ollie Hogg was surfing with illness and Ezra Forde a tight hamstring, They were replaced by Karim Komhouri making his full debut and Ben Kakembo, with Archie Davis and Theo Ransby coming into the squa .

The game got under way and almost immediately the home side attacked on the left and should have opened the score but the shot was deflected out for a corner. It was a really open first quarter, with each side attacking but Thame had a number of chances and should be ahead. However on 25 minutes the hosts did take the lead, with Eitel Goueth, breaking at pace into the box before slotting home.

A few minutes later it should have been level but a great save from Keeper Fred Chapman kept the visitors out, but they did have the ball in the net on 34 minutes but the flag went up for offside. On 39 minutes it should have been two, another through ball finds Wiktor Makowski who ran through on goal but his shot was over the bar. Before the half ended there were two more great opportunities wasted. The half ended with Thame good value for their lead but it should have been mored than 1 -0. A number of wasted chances to put the game beyond the reach of Biggleswade.

The second half began with the visitors on the front foot, but Thame still were causing all sorts of trouble from the counter attack again going close on 51 minutes. The visitors had their best chance of the game on 56 minutes but keeper Fred Chapman made a fine point blank save. Back at the other end another a Thame break and the ball is cleared off the line, another missed chance. The game was becoming really open as the home side started to tire, the counter attacks were slowing but still an occasional break caused problems. The visitors were starting to get on top and got there reward on 72 minutes when a cross was met by centre forward Semi to head home.

Thame bought on Harry Alexander and Lewis Cross for Ben Kakembo and Karim Komhouri who had taken a knock. The pressure now was on the home side as Biggleswade pushed for a winner, but still Thame were creating chances, on 86 minutes Harry Alexander picked up a loose pass turns but the shot is wide. Keeper Chapman made another good save in injury time and the game ended in a 1- 1 draw, on the balance of the visitors second half performance a fair result but the Red Kites will rue a string of chance missed to take all three points. But its looking promising with the number of chances that have been created in the last two games.
