Abingdon Town 1-3 Thame Reserves

A new-look Thame United Reserves travelled to Abingdon for their first game of the 2024/2025 Oxford Senior League season. Abingdon promoted from Division one last season.

Thame started the game well and squandered several chances including three one one ones in the first 20 minutes. Then against the run of play Abingdon chased down a ball over the top only for the Thame keeper to kick the ball against the striker and it looping into the net.
Thame continued to apply pressure and miss chances, and just before the break Abingdon’s 9 lashed out and received a straight red card.

Thame struck instantly in the second half, with Chucks scoring a composed strike underneath the keeper. The second quickly followed, a flowing team move down the right with Loik Helmer providing a perfect low cross for the perfectly timed Tom Lankaster run, who glanced the ball past the keeper. The third was a fine finish from the ever-dangerous Lewis Cross to wrap up the game.
