Thame United vs Barton Rovers Match Preview 31 January

Martin Pacetti30 Jan - 15:01

Back at the ASM this Saturday as Barton Rovers are the visitors

Thame United are back at home this Saturday in the Pitching In Southern League Central Division One, as Barton Rovers also known as the Rovers are the visitors to The ASM Stadium. Last season Thame lost on their visit to the Winton Haulage Stadium 3 - 0 in December, going down to ten men in the first half, then conceding two late goals. The two sides then met again in March last year with a nil nil result helping Barton to reach the play off places, finishing in fourth place five points above Thame.

This season the two teams met back in October for a midweek match under the lights, with Thame putting in arguably one of their best performances of the season coming away with a 0 - 4 victory, inflicting Bartons first home defeat of the season. Going 1 - 0 up in the 66th minute through a lance Williams goal, Thame score three more late goals from Dan West, Curtis Brown and Jack Tutton to wrap up the points. The two teams are separated in the league by one place and two points with Barton in sixth place and Thame in seventh place but Thame have three games in hand over the visitors. Barton are on an indifferent run of form with only one win in the last six games, last time out they suffered 1 - 3 home defeat to Milton Keynes Irish. Barton do have the leagues leading goal scorer among their ranks with Albie Hall scoring 24 league goals, so will be a big threat up front, and their recent run of form shouldn’t be discounted.

Meanwhile the home side suffered another disappointment on Tuesday night with the game against Welwyn Garden City postponed due to a waterlogged pitch, but have continued their good run off form, after winning December team of the month, although only playing two games the home victory against Biggleswade FC and then a 6 - 1 away victory at AFC Dunstable has seen the team move up to seventh in the table with games in hand over the teams above them.

Kick off at The ASM Stadium is 15:00
