Thame United vs Flackwell Heath Match Preview 14th February

Martin Pacetti12 Feb - 11:08

Back at the ASM for the visit of The Heathen's

Thame United are back in action this Saturday when they welcome near neighbours Flackwell Heath (The Heathens) to the ASM Stadium in the Pitching In Southern League Central Division One. This is the reverse fixture with the two teams meeting at Wilkes Park in a mid week fixture back in November with Thame coming out on top by 2 - 1, with two first half goals from Dan West and Curtis Brown securing the three points. Last season was the first time the two teams had met when Flackwell were promoted to step four, with Flackwell winning both games, the game in April at the end of the season going a long way to helping Flackwell clinching a play off spot, loosing in the final to Berkhampsted, but it was an impressive first season for The Heathen's amassing 84 points with twenty six wins on their way to a third place finish.

This season Flackwell currently sit in 14th Place in the table on 39 points after twenty six games and have already lost more games than in the whole of last season, and are without their two leading goal scorers from last season Wiktor Makowski 39 goals and Michael Harding 15 goals who have moved on to play at a higher level. There are two former Thame players in the Heathens ranks with Harry Mepham and Juwon Akintunde who played last season returning to the ASM.

Meanwhile Thame continued their unbeaten run on Saturday stretching it to nine games after an impressive 5 - 1 away victory at the London Lions. Harry Alexander taking his goal tally onto thirteen for the season with a brace, Louis Walsh who moves onto twelve for the season, Mark Riddick and Charlie Stow with his third goal in four games, all scored The win, one of only two games to survive the weather at the weekend moves Thame up one place to sixth with games in hand on the teams above them. They had a chance to move into the play offs on Tuesday but the game at Aylesbury was postponed for the second time this season.

Kick off at The ASM Stadium is 15:00
