Thame United are back at home this Saturday after three away games in the Pitching In Southern League Central Division One, as Rayners Lane are the visitors to The ASM Stadium. This is only the second time the two teams have met since Rayners Lanes sideways move from the isthmian League at the start of the season. The first meeting took part on a miserably wet day in North West London with Thame coming out on top by four goals to one, with two goals each for Louis Walsh and Greg Hackett. Since that meeting there has been a change of manager at Rayners and also an overhaul of the squad with only a few players remaining from the first encounter. This will not be an easy game as Rayners are fighting for their lives second from bottom with only seventeen points with seven games to play so its still possible for the team to avoid relegation and their recent performances have been a lot better and have given a good account of themselves.
Meanwhile Thame continue to fight for the play off spots, since their 4 - 0 away defeat at Enfield they have gone onto defeat Hertford Town one of their play off rivals, Milton Keynes Irish with a thumping six goals to nil away victory and a hard fought win at Stotfold before a trip to their nearest rivals Aylesbury on Wednesday and came away with a 3 - 3 draw, with a somewhat lacklustre performance, coming from behind to snatch a point with a late goal from Leo Galpin with his first touch of the ball after coming on as a substitute. The point means Thame are still outside the play offs on goal difference from Hertford Town, with both teams on sixty four points but Thame have a game in hand over them, and with eight games left to play, this game has consequences at both the top and the bottom of the table.
Kick off at The ASM Stadium is 15:00
