Thame United vs Real Bedford Match Preview 26 April

Martin Pacetti25 Apr - 18:23

Its the final match of the league campaign as we welcome the champions to the ASM Stadium

It’s the fourteenth and final league game of the season this weekend when we welcome the league champions Real Bedford to the ASM Stadium. We would like to congratulate our opponents on their league success amassing 101 points and scoring 127 goals this season and only losing twice, a remarkable record in their first season at step four. It’s a brief stop for Real Bedford, after being promoted last season as they move onto step 3 next season and would like to wish them all the success in their ventures at the next level. The two teams have only met once competitively and that was earlier in the season when Thame suffered their biggest defeated Iwith a 7 - 2 loss. It was a disappointing last outing for Thame losing to Flackwell Heath, in front of the largest crowd of the season 254, unfortunately missing an injury time penalty to draw the game which could have kept our play off chances more realistic as we go into the final round of the season. With both Barton Rovers and Hadley winning on Bank Holiday Monday it would take an almost impossible scenario to make the play offs, meaning Thame would have to win, Hadley would have to loose and we would have to turn around a 13 goal difference. Meanwhile Real Bedford march on winning their last six matches and defeating AFC Dunstable 3 - 1 in their final home game of the season. However we need to reflect on where Thame have come from, a year ago finishing second bottom and gaining a reprieve, to stay at step four and going into the last game with a mathematical play off chance on the final round of games. What ever happens on Saturday this will be Thames best ever league season, and we sLll have the Oxfordshire Senior cup final to look forward to, the following weekend
and the chance to make it a hat trick of wins.
