Thame United Women vs Didcot Town Ladies Match Report 10 November

Martin Pacetti11 Nov 2024 - 17:32

Thame United Women continue their fine league form, with another victory.

Thame United Women 4 - 2 Didcot Town Ladies

Thame United Women hosted Didcot Town Ladies in the reverse fixture of the Thames Valley Counties Division Two. Last time out Thames United Women came away with a 1-7 victory with Shona Reid-Evans scoring 4. This time out it was to be a much closer affair.

Thame started on the wrong foot after conceding within 6 minutes due to a mix up at the back, which left Enya Lee for Didcot able to capitalise.

Thame equalised in the 22nd minute through a well placed top-corner free kick by Yaz Williams.

Yaz Williams instantly impacted again by putting us ahead on the 24th minute, after scoring directly from a corner from the right hand side.

Didcot brought the game level again in the 33rd minute after Thame failed to clear the ball on the edge of the box, allowing the Didcot skipper to send a powerful effort past Lillie Eames.

It was very end to end stuff in the last 12 minutes of the first half and both teams went into the break wondering how they were not ahead.

It took 13 minutes into the second half for Thame to once again go ahead - this time through Emma Potts calmly placing her effort into the bottom corner, after a great run down the right and cross from Talia Mead

With more end to end action and time running out, Didcot really wanted that leveller, in which they went very close on the 82nd minute but it was Thames number 1 Lillie Eames who pulled out some heroics to deny Enya Lee a second.

Ashleigh Poolan gave Thame some breathing room in the 84th minute after an incredible run by Shona Reid-Evans was stopped by the Didcot keeper. The ball was only cleared as far as Ash who’s first effort was blocked but made no mistake in placing her second attempt into the far side netting.

With 7 minutes added on Lillie Eames was called into action not once but twice pulling off two amazing back to back saves to secure the 3 points for the red kites.

With other results going Thames way they move to 3rd in the league 1 point behind the league leaders with a game in hand.
