Welwyn Garden City vs Thame United Match Preview 11 April

Welwyn Garden City vs Thame United Match Preview 11 April

Martin Pacetti10 Apr - 07:26

Off to Hertfordshire for our penultimate away game

Thame United are on the road again this weekend as they head to Hertfordshire to face Welwyn Garden City (The Citizens) in the Pitching In Southern League Central Division One. Last Season Welwyn had an early season victory over Thame after a sixth minute goal at the ASM stadiums the visitors secure the points, then in January with teams fought out a 2 - 2 draw at Hern's Lane, with the Citizens scoring a late equaliser. The two teams finally met this season after two postponements at the ASM Stadium in February, with the Citizens coming away with a 1 - 0 win after a late winner.

Welwyn are currently in ninth place in the table and have been hard to beat this season only losing nine times, but have drawn too many games to be able to challenge for play offs this season. Last time out they came up against play off hopefuls Hertford town and suffered defeat in the local Hertfordshire derby on Bank Holiday Monday after securing their first win in six matches after a 3 - 0 win at against Stotfold on Good Friday.

Meanwhile Thame went into the Easter weekend with a good away victory against Northwood, on Good Friday which maintained a six point lead over Hertford in the race for the final play off spot, however had a very disappointing result at home to Aylesbury going down 0 - 2 and suffering their first defeat in eight matches. The gap now is down to three points with three games to play, so nothing more than a victory will do for the Red Kites this weekend.

Kick Off at Hernes Way is 15:00
