UNITED maintained there unbeaten start to 2012 with a victory at Shrivenham.

Playing uphill in the first half, United were quickly in to their stride and, in the first ten minutes, the hosts were barely able to get out of their own half. During this period the best opportunity fell to Luke Ricketts whose first time effort just cleared the cross bar.
Thame continued to press, with Alex Stewart seeing a header cleared off the line, and James Keeble unable to find the target from the edge of the box. United eventually took the lead in the 35th minute from the penalty spot. A ball was played in to the box, where the referee was well-placed to see Alex Stewart held by the home defender and pointed straight to the spot. Stewart himself took the penalty, beating the keeper low to his right. With half time nearing, Thame goalkeeper Nick Bennion was called in to action for the first time, saving spectacularly from a Steve Robertson drive.
Two minutes in to the second half United extended their lead. Aaron Rogers put Luke Ricketts away down the left. Ricketts then cut in to the box and from a tight angle hit a low shot that the keeper could only deflect to the far post, where Connelly was on hand to finish from close range. After the goal, Shrivenham came back in to the game and pushed Thame back. They got a goal back with twenty minutes to go when Thame captain Mitchell Meredith, in trying to clear the ball following a low cross, could only steer the ball back in to his own goal. Whilst the crowd then expected Shrivenham to press forward in search of an equaliser, this never materialised, with Bennion rarely threatened in the Thame goal. Indeed, it was United who went closest to extending their lead when Ricketts again saw another effort sail narrowly over the bar.
The win pushed United up to eighth place in the league.

Thame United: Bennion, Willett, Hall, Meredith, N Rhodes, Keeble, Connelly, West, Stewart, Rogers (Gray), Ricketts.
