United made it three wins from four on their league travels as they defeated basement side Hanwell Town, 2-0, on Saturday.

The opening exchanges belonged to the home side as they forced a number of corners, but without troubling Craig Hill in the Thame goal. After an enforced change, in which Ellis Hercules replaced the injured Adam Morris, United had their first effort on goal on 13 minutes when a Ben Sturgess free kick was headed just wide by Lynton Goss. Shortly afterwards Goss did well to clip a cross to the far post where Luke Ricketts was unable to get a scoring touch. By now, United had gained the upper hand and the opening goal arrived on 24 minutes when a cross from Goss caused havoc in the penalty area and a touch from Tom Ashworth found Dan West who hooked the ball over the home keeper and in to the back of the net.

The expected onslaught from the home side never really materialised and, instead, United maintained their dominance, with a Ricketts effort ruled out for off-side on 41 minutes before, on 43 minutes, Goss skewed an effort wide from ten yards.

The home side changed formation at half–time, moving to a back three, and the switch immediately gave them the ascendancy. Indeed, their best opportunity came on 51 minutes when a cross to the far post was headed wide from six yards when it seemed easier to score. United then almost extended the lead on 57 minutes when a West free kick from 25 yards was pushed wide for a corner. A Hanwell effort from distance then clipped the top of the Thame bar before, on 63 minutes, Ellis Hercules did well to clear an effort off the line, with Kileen then heading over when well-placed on 69 minutes.

United were not without their own opportunities, with West and Goss linking well, and the former seeing a free kick tipped over the bar ten minutes from time. The second goal eventually arrived on 82 minutes. Substitute Ben Gray clipped a ball through for Goss, who beat his marker before confidently sliding the ball under Comas in the home goal from an acute angle.

The remainder of the match passed without incident as United held on to secure three points, moving the side up to fourteenth in the league table.
