United secured a double over Hanwell Town on Tuesday evening with a relatively comfortable 3-1 victory at the ASM Stadium.

Manager Mark West made changes to the side beaten at Fleet Town on Saturday, with Calvin Evans coming in at right back, Aston Goss on the left side of midfield, and Club Captain Ben Sturgess making a welcome return on the bench following a two month absence through injury.

United opened brightly and, on 8 minutes, Dan West went close to opening the scoring after a Harry Mepham run and cross saw the strikers near post effort pushed wide by Bunting. From the resulting corner Bunting again saved from West before an Aston Goss effort cleared the bar.

However, on 12 minutes and against the run of play, the visitors took the lead. A back pass from Mepham led to hesitation and Dan Fleming raced in ahead of goalkeeper Craig Hill who could only bring the forward down for a clear penalty. Joe Chandiram stepped up and, despite the best efforts of Hill, beat the keeper low to his left.

The goal stirred United in to action and, on 21 minutes, the equaliser almost arrived when Evans hit a left foot drive from 25 yards that crashed off the bar, with the follow-up from West - who it transpires was in an off-side position – brilliantly saved by Bunting. The equaliser eventually arrived on 33 minutes when a deep corner was crossed back in to the area by Tom Ashworth, and West finished with an excellent overhead kick to give Bunting no chance. Three minutes later and United were in front. A poor throw just inside the Thame half was collected by West who he went on a mazy run beating four defenders before, with only one man to beat, he laid the ball square for Aston Goss whose first time shot flew in to the roof of the net. Before the half was over Liam Tack fired wide from a Lynton Goss cross, before a Tack free kick was headed over by West.

The second half opened with the visitors enjoying more of the possession, but United should have extended their lead on 59 minutes when Tack crossed for an unmarked Lynton Goss at the far post, but the ball appeared to hold-up and Goss pushed his effort wide. Shortly afterwards Adam Morris worked some space on the edge of the box but again his shot went wide of the target. For their part, the visitors continued to press and a near one-two gave Fleming a chance, but he was pushed wide by Hill and could only find the side netting. West and Goss had further chances to score but the result was put beyond doubt in the 89th minute when Morris played the ball to Tack down the right and, with Bunting coming out to narrow the angle, Tack literally passed the ball in to the far corner of goal.

The win sees United maintain their eleventh place position in the league.

United: Hill, Evans (Murray), Mepham, Essex, Johnston (Ward), Ashworth, Tack, L.Goss, Morris, West (Sturgess), A Goss.
