Hughenden Valley 3 - 1 Thame Boys U14's
By Steve Miller
Bad day at the office.
We suffered our second league defeat of the season today to a side we beat 4-0 at home only 5 weeks ago. Mistakes cost us dear.
On a small pitch and in difficult windy conditions, we played with the wind in the first half. Having the vast majority of possession and territory did not lead to us creating many clear cut chances if any. The run of the ball did not go with us at all throughout the game.
0-0 at half time soon turned into one nil when we gave away a silly penalty at the start of the half. Not long after a total lack of communication between defender and keeper led to one of their strikers nipping in and making it 2-0. Same thing happened for the 3rd goal.
Hopeful long balls over the top not dealt with cost us twice. Things to work on in training. We should have had a penalty awarded to us late on but wasn't when Charlie Phillips was brought down in the box.
In the last minute, a well delivered corner form Samuel Donaldson was headed in at the far post by Charlie Phillips.
We will need to pick ourselves up quickly from this one before next weekend.
